I do not disagree with most of this post-to warn the Kyrgiz to not pursue rare earth or other critical resources is not wisdom. Finding exports that other countries want--including the US will bring in foreign currency that could someday make Kyrgiz currency convertible. This should be one important goal of every central asian country.
